Arthur and The Solenoids is a fully automated guitar band with accompanying facial choreography. It is the first experiment in automated facial choreography. In this piece a computer program (a Max patch) controls solenoids playing the strings of guitars and activates the facial muscles of a passive performer. No human intervention. The piece was premiered at the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz Austria in 1997.
