Stills from Morphology. Video: Ellen Zweig

Morphology

Morphology is an experiment in algorithmic facial choreography. In this piece a random set of activated muscles is slowly and continuously morphed to another random set of muscles. Over time the execution of this process is slowly increased. Two DECtalk voice synthesis machines are deployed on each side of the face, calling out the identification numbers of the activated muscles.

note

Face Shift is the first of a two stage performance together with Face Shift and was first presented at the Slought Foundation in Philadelphia USA in 2005.
